Start, end and archive

Every Sello program runs on a schedule you set at creation: a start date and an end date. The end date isn't paperwork — it's the terms of your program. Customers see it on their card as Program ends, and it's the promise they join under: your program can't vanish on them overnight.

The end date is a promise

  • Every kind of program requires one at creation — stamp cards, points, coupons and challenges alike.
  • Customers see it in their card details as Program ends.
  • You can extend it at any time: program page → Extend end date.
  • You can never move it earlier. Shortening the terms customers already joined under isn't allowed — by design, not by accident. To wind down sooner, archive instead.

What happens when a program ends

  • It disappears from Discover and your premise pages, and new customers can no longer join.
  • Stamps, points and visits stop counting — the staff scanner no longer offers it.
  • Challenge cards show Ended instead of a countdown.
  • Earned rewards are honoured. A card completed before the end date can still be redeemed at the counter afterwards — ending a program never confiscates what customers already earned.

An ended program isn't gone: reactivate it by picking a new, later end date and it's live again — members and their progress are right where they left off.

Winding down early: archive

Want to stop before the end date without breaking the terms? Archive the program:

  • New customers can't join from the moment you archive.
  • Customers who already hold a card keep collecting and redeeming until the end date — the promise is kept for them.
  • Unarchive any time to accept new members again.

In short: archive closes the door to new members; the end date is when the program is over for everyone.

Scheduling a launch

Stamp, points and coupon programs can start on a future date — build it today, launch Monday. Before the start date nothing counts and nothing shows. Challenges always start the moment you publish them.

Challenges: two clocks

For sprints and quests, the completion deadline is the program's end date — one clock.

Frequency and streak challenges have two: each customer plays their own window or streak (their personal clock), inside the program's overall end date. The countdown a customer sees always tracks whichever clock runs out sooner. Details in Challenges.
